Power issues-
Do you have power issues with your computer, printer or monitor not turning on? Did you know that power strips are not all the same and they do not all work after a storm or an outage. Below is a few simple tips you can try to see if your power strip is ok, or if its time to buy a new one. Spend at least $19.95 or more.

Step 1 - Go to your power strip and give it a smell. (I know it sounds weird but its your first clue to a bad strip)
Step 2 - Unplug the device that is not working and plug it into the wall directly.
Step 3 - Now try to turn on the device, if it works then you need to replace your power strip.
Keyboard issues-
Did your keyboard stop working or works only part of the time? Their are two types of keyboards, one is wired and plugs directly into a USB port on your computer and the other is wireless and uses batteries for power.

Step 1 - For wired keyboards simply unplug the cord and try another USB port
Step 2 - For wireless keyboards, flip over the keyboard and replace the batteries. (push the reset button)

Noises in my computer-
Do you have odd noises coming from your computer and don't know what they are? Here is a list of the most common PC noises and what hardware maybe causing it. We also will tell you an average replacement cost, so you don't get ripped off when your computer tech has to fix it for you. The more information you have the better off you will be.


Power Supply - This is what powers up your computer. The fan maybe making noises, try vacuuming it as best as you can. If the power supply itself is making noises, you will need to replace it, do to over heating of the components.

The cost runs between $39.95 to $119.95 for a low to medium end power supply


Case fans - All computer cases/tower have to have at least one or more fans. When a fan starts to make noise its telling you to first vacuum it out or replace it. Fans spin off bearings and heat up over long periods of time. Replacing a case fan is very easy. You simply remove the 4 screws in which it holds itself to the case and unplug it from the motherboard.

The cost of any fan runs between $9.95 to $39.95 for a better fan thats really quiet spend the extra money.


Video cards -  Another device that runs everytime you start your computer is the video card and fan. Your video card gets power from being attached to the power supply, then sends a signal from the motherboard to the video card and in turn lets you see a photo/ graphics on your monitor.
If your video card make a sound you can try vacuuming it, but it maybe time to replace it.

The cost of a video cards can vary from low to high depending on your computer use. Between $49.95 to $199.95.
